MCEA Lawsuit & Updates
The Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy filed a lawsuit against the City of Pine Island and Ryan Companies US, Inc. in October of 2025. Give it a read if you want to know exactly what it’s about.

In February, 2026, the MCEA also filed a complaint against the City of Pine Island and Ryan Companies US, Inc. asserting the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) the City issued should be invalid due to an inadequate environmental review. In the complaint, the MCEA asked that in the event the City’s AUAR is determined to be inadequate, that the City’s decision to approve the CUP be reversed.

In March of 2026, the MCEA filed for a temporary injunction to halt Ryan Companies, Inc. from beginning construction.
